History of the Consulate General of Haiti in Florida

Protection and assistance for our citizens, promoting the diaspora

The Republic of Haiti has long maintained special ties with the State of Florida, due to the presence of a large Haitian community in this region of the United States. Faced with the constant growth of this diaspora since the second half of the 20th century, the Haitian government deemed it necessary to establish permanent consular representation there.

Thus, the Consulate General of Haiti in Miami was established to ensure better protection for Haitian nationals, facilitate their administrative procedures, and strengthen the relationship between the diaspora and the homeland. Since its opening, the Consulate has established itself as a community-based institution, supporting different generations of compatriots and helping them integrate, while preserving the fundamental link that unites the Haitian community in Florida with Haiti.
